From Blood and Ash
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I have been looking for this book for months and holy hell, it was so worth the wait. I had trouble putting this one down, the story held me in a vice-like grip and I didn’t even want to escape it.
Poppy is the MC I’ve dreamed of reading about. She’s not perfect. She’s not as skinny as a twig, she’s not flawless, she has scars upon scars upon scars. And I love that about her.
As for Hawke, I don’t know how to feel besides intrigued (a word that he particularly seemed to love). There’s so much more to learn about this character and I’m in for it.
The sort of religion this works has created is so captivating and so morally wrong, but so fun to read about. The moment I first read about the Craven, I had to hold back a scream (mainly because I was on a busy train but that’s besides the point), because it’s been so long since I’ve read a good high fantasy story with the use of a vampire-like creature in it.
Do I even need to mention it, the smut was a-ma-zing. That’s all I’m going to say about it.
Needless to say, I’m very much looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
