I do enjoy spicy romantsy, and if you're a fan of the darker monster lover variety, this is probably a good pick for you! Unfortunately for me it didn't really hit the right notes.
For starters, I felt the language used was a little too modern, if not meta. For example, the narration makes a reference to Stockholm syndrome by name, and it really didn't mix with the novel as a whole.
There's also the matter of Orpheus and his, let's say attributes. For fans of the genre, he's probably fantastic. For me, however, he was a little too close to "animal" in appearence and behavior for my liking.
I did enjoy the read, even if I did scrunch my nose in some places. Read via audiobook.
