This is perhaps the first wlw novel that I've related to this much. As someone living in a country where being gey is not just a taboo but can lead to severe consequences for the person I feel like this novel captures the feeling so well. The protagonist is a very guarded person and her internal monologue is so necessary because inside her it feels like there's so much to explore. Her anxiety and her journey are explored so well . The setting is during the red scare in America and the author researched about it thoroughly as well as the queer community at the time is also researched really well . The romance made me giggle at several points the beginning was slow but by the end I was rooting so hard for the main characters. Overall a really good read.
