Panenka by Rónán Hession

1.5

The book is a total miss for me. Right after reading the blurb it felt like it was right up my alley, but I was wrong. Nevertheless, it is not necessarily a bad book. It is just that I didn't vibe with the book whether in terms of its writing, settings and also the characters.

Sadly the emotional impact the book tried to create did not work for me. And I mostly felt nothing while reading. With less words, the writer tried to explore so many things which, to me, seemed a bit rushed and undercooked, but It gets better in the end. I couldn't be able to connect with the writing and it all seemed very hazy, yet there were some truly remarkable quotes. That little boy Arthur; he was a funny bit and I laughed in some parts.

In the end, as I said this is not a bad book. It is just that it didn't match my wavelength.
