It's funny that none of my shelves fit for this book because I'm so used to reading series or fantasy that I forgot about other genres. But honestly I think this book was just what I needed. It's nice to have a quick book, one where I don't have to get bogged down on there being 5 more to read after it.
I'm on the bandwagon late for this book, but whatever. I really loved a lot about it. And I feel like the people that criticize how the book is narrated or even Charlie in general don't really understand what it's like to be socially awkward. And though at times I feel like maybe there's an overwhelming amount of social issues that all seem to be in direct orbit of Charlie's life (rape, molestation, racism, homosexuality, domestic abuse, drug use, etc), I never really felt a point where I didn't think 'that's not plausible.' Charlie is so candid and observant and ridiculous and completely overwhelming. But it wouldn't be the same story without his interactions.
I think my only complaint was that I felt like Charlie cried a little too much sometimes.
