Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal Author Quest by Nancy Gray, Cheryl Henson, Vinnie Chiappini, Esther S. Palmer, J.M. Lee, Greg Coles

5.0

Five absolutely heartbreaking stories, of ambiguous continuities, of what I imagine to be early imaginings of what became ultimately became -- cruelly cancelled by Netflix -- the prequel series Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

I was surprised at well-written all of these tales were; given how these are all the beginnings of stories, I was always disappointed to find out that each fragment ended in favour of the next author. I felt all their fear and betrayal and confusion as the truth about the Skeksis being manipulative lifedraining tyrants rather than supposed benefactors becomes revealed to each of these individuals, and become hunted with perhaps a clue of where to go next.

I am super stoked to hear what this means about the curation of Dark Crystal secondary media given how strongly I connected to these works. I have enjoyed the comics I have encountered and now feel motivated to seek all media out.
