Hope and Other Superpowers: A Life-Affirming, Love-Defending, Butt-Kicking, World-Saving Manifesto by John Pavlovitz

4.0

I like the philosophy in this book, as well as the metaphor for finding our superpowers the way the heroes of the Marvel and DC Universes do. Many of the anecdotes of ordinary people doing what they can where they are were inspiring.

I felt it could have been tightened a lot. His repetition of certain points and phrases is familiar to me as someone who has sat through a lot of sermons. But I don't think the pulpit style really works as well in print. With the number of repetitions, I started skimming in places.

Still, I'm glad I read it. It's good to know there are people in the world fighting the good fight for truth, justice and an inclusive world.
