The Midnight Lie by Marie Rutkoski

3.0

This was a 2.5 for me. Because honestly the plot felt just... lame? I don’t want to use the word “stupid”, I prefer not to use it. My issue with this book is 99 percent of the characters felt flat and one dimensional. Aside from Sid. The only redeeming quality of the book for me was Sid. But as slow burning as the entire story was, and normally I love this type of conclusion to an ending, the last 10 percent felt like it came out of left field... not in a good way. In a way that made no sense and as though I began an entirely different story. Really, the last few pages I was like “wtactualf”. Which may have been more exciting if I cared more about the characters. So sad. So sad.
