Magical girls are a winning formula, and I've always wondered how that would translate into books. I'm glad someone tried, and the first 70% was really great at breaking down the magical girl trope as it would relate to someone who knows what compounding interest and the hopeless grind of capitalsim is.
It's kind of tongue in cheek, like a comedy set that has an undercurrent of a discomforting topic. To me, calling this a queer book is a bit of a stretch, but I think that's a cultural difference and/or obstacle during translation (I'm so American, I'm sorry).
It's cute and quick. I would reccomend it for a change of pace in anyone's usual repetoire.
