Starting the REAL Star Wars EU.
This book really feels like old Star Wars. Is it the best written thing? No. Best dialogue or characters? No. Is it pure fun? Awww yeahhh.
My biggest complaints were that I felt like it lacked a coherent direction and that towards the start, Stackpole, to me, felt like he was trying to do a Dune-esque showcase of tension between people of former factions, but it kind of fell apart as the book went on.
With that being said, Stackpole’s portrayal of being in a squad reminded me so much of Easy Company from Band of Brothers.
