 happy pride month, i guess.

i think rina kent got a lobotomy in between god of fury and god of war bcs what the actual hell was this writing.

her books are not good but they were at least enjoyable in a dumpster-fire-you-can't-look-away-from way. this one was just straight up unreadable. it's like she combined killian and nikolai but left only the bad parts.

the characterization was a hot mess. neither of them were consistent at all, ESPECIALLY kayden. she wanted him to be a brooding nikolai but that doesn't translate bcs whimsy is the most important part of nikolai's character. gareth was just straight up annoying and he acted like a worse version of annika, who was SEVENTEEN mind you and not TWENTY-TWO.

the dialogue was TERRIBLE. SO BAD. it was so unnatural and cringey, nothing fit right or made sense. EVEN MORE BAFFLING was the complete tonal switch in the second half of the book. second half is being nice. the last 30% is more apt. i just don't understand how it's the same author.

im honestly glad that there were no women for her to torture and maim--oh wait!

anyway. whatever. yulian and vaughn i will be tuning in. and kane, i guess.
