Meticulously written and definitely eerie.  I had seen one of the adaptations of this years ago and knew the plot so it was fun to find all of the little hints from the earliest parts of the book that supported the twist.  What makes this more than just uncanny/horror, is the room left for interpretation.  Do the men already know what's happening when they move to Stepford? Is there some pre-internet era message board out there drawing men with inconveniently intelligent wives to participate in the experiment? Do any of the men regret what they've done? How do robot moms parent boys vs girls if they're programmed by men?

This is short and easy to read with a million thought experiments to make up for the seeming simplicity of the text.  Well worth a read!
