I like books where nothing happens but not this one. The way this book was written, while weirdly engaging, it had a stream of consciousness feeling to it that kind of just drifted along. And there wasn't enough weight to anything to drive the tension I think the book was trying to get at. It felt like a journal- just a logging of details with some naval gazing and occasional metaphors thrown in. 
So while things happened, it felt like nothing happened, and there was no payoff for the nothing so...
