99 Days by Katie Cotugno
3.0

I personally was not the biggest fan of this story, however I thought the storyline was very true to life for the age of the characters. Molly, our main character, returns home after a year of boarding school after having betrayed the boy she loves by being with his brother. You see her feeling guilty about all of it, but how does she fix it? It’s one bad choice after another. It makes you cringe at times, but it reminds you of all the dumb things you did at the same age. You don’t really know how to follow your heart or your head, so you just walk around causing more harm than good.

At times this book reminded me of mean girls. For something that happened a year ago it seemed like too many non-important people cared and were mean back to Molly. I could understand this behavior if it was fresh, but not if it was a year later.

This book moves forward in present time but there is also flash backs to pieces of what happened the year before and as you read things slowly fall into place. I went back and forth on how I felt about the situation. When the story ends it was kind of abrupt. Once day 99 hits, that is it. No epilogue. I really would have liked to know what happened to some of these characters after the summer. There was not hint of anything, so for myself it left me hanging, but it keeps true to the title. It just covers one summer over 99 days.
