While I'm a mathematician and not a computer scientist, I was familiar with some of the concepts this book covered, especially neural networks. I wasn't expecting to learn much, but I did value Shane's coverage of what problems AI is poorly suited to solve. There's also a ton of cute cartoons and some very silly applications of AI (e.g., create good heavy metal band names).
But, I found the book repetitive, especially near the end, and a bit too reliant on its sense of the absurd. It's probably a good introduction to AI issues for these new to the topic, but I would have preferred a more robust take.
