Pretty good memoir mostly about growing up black and her relationship with hair. Also, her relationship with whiteness was prominent too, from the accusation of "acting white" or her white softball teammates' fascination with her hair. Decent memoir all told, but I have to dock it a star for illustrations that aren't great.
