The Girl Beneath the Sea by Andrew Mayne

4.0

Sloan family doesn't have the best reputation so she's trying to forge her own path and make a better name for herself. She is now an auxiliary police officer, focusing on diving for evidence recovery. During recreational dive, she finds a dead body floating above her. Unfortunately the dead woman and Sloan have a slight connection and instead of becoming a witness she becomes a suspect. While working towards clearing her name, she teams up with an ex-cop. The unsuspecting team makes a powerful duo and uncover way more than expected.

This was a bit different than what I've been reading. I loved the diving storyline, though I found myself stressed out when she was underwater. The author did an excellent job of making me feel like I was underwater with Sloan. The mystery wasn't all that intriguing to me and I didn't feel super invested in that aspect of the book. I did enjoy the budding friendship between Sloan and George.
