The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

5.0

I'm going to be honest here. I had this book on my TBR for a while but I knew it had some kind of concept that made it a little different and I wasn't sure if I could get on board with that. However, I heard great reviews from readers I trust, so I decided to give it a try. OMG, I loved it!! The writing is amazing and I was quickly absorbed into the story and couldn't put it down. I felt like I was highlighting in my Kindle so often because there are just some amazing lines. The romance is beautiful and unique. The friendships and the character growth are wonderful. And the food...omg, Ashley writes about such delicious food. I enjoyed all the chef & restaurant talk. I'm craving tacos from a food truck, too. The star of this book though is the back and forth between Clementine & Iwan. I kept waiting to see what each chapter brought with the same anticipation that I imagine Clementine had each time she unlocked her apartment door. I had so many questions while I was reading and slowly my questions would be answered and then I'd have new curiosities. The Seven Year Slip is an incredibly fun book to experience while also dealing with some pretty heavy and sad topics. Please make sure you read the author's note that explains what happened while she was writing the book and why she made certain choices.
I mostly read this book on my Kindle (while relaxing in the pool) but I also listened to the audiobook. Brittany Pressley did an excellent job with Clementine's voice.
