marygg3 's review for:
Hunting Adeline
by H.D. Carlton
dark
fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
Strong character development:
No
Loveable characters:
No
Diverse cast of characters:
Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus:
Complicated
Honestly, I deserve a medal for finishing this.
The first half wasn't so bad but I think that's mostly because the main characters were separated. Once they reunited everything became trash again. The interminable cringe of the male main character, the normalized rape, the non-stop telling instead of showing, the complete stupidity and blandness of the female main character.
I came this close to DNFing it.
I mean, I didn't expect much, the barr was already on the floor, but MY GOD it was bad!
The first one wasn't good by any stretch of the imagination, but at least I enjoyed it at times. But this one... seriously, the moment they were together again this book lost all its appeal.
The first half wins it the stars I gave it, but I'm never reading anything by this author again. It's clearly not for me.
