I immediately wanted to read this based on the cover alone (I know, not good to judge a book based off the cover, but hello hot man). The blurb was reason #2 for me doing a FULL SEND into this delicious read. For my first read by Jane Henry, she did not disappoint me AT ALL. I only wish that I started this series from the beginning, but rest assured, I will be reading the previous books soon.
HOLY PLOT TWISTSSS. This book was one of those reads that kept me in a chokehold from beginning to end. I love my mafia romances, and seeing a bodyguard troupe entwined with it plus a fake relationship troupe was REALLY GOOD. The chemistry between Nikko and Vera was insanely high. The tension was real, how they both had their ulterior motives, but still wanted to be with each other was written so well. I would go to say this was a wild ride for a mafia romance. So many plot twists and lots happening from beginning to end. Highly recommend and can not wait to start books 1 and 2!
