The Sandman Vol. 2: The Doll's House
by Neil Gaiman
I much preferred the artwork in this volume, it's a lot cleaner, a lot closer to what I suppose you'd consider "modern" comic art.
There's some pretty disturbing shit in this volume, I guess Gaiman was holding it off until he's hooked people. Child abuse, serial killers, using a child's man to try to create a brand new dreamscape... or something. It's all pretty messed up.
I think the worst part was the serial killer convention, the way they're written feels very realistic, very human... which makes it all the more disturbing. I sometimes wonder about the dark places authors have to go to get such authentic characters.
Dream comes across as a lot more human in this volume, which is interesting considering how entirely not human he is.
I suspect this is going to be another series I devour quicker than I should. It's really readable.
