I enjoyed Empire of Silence and the first part of Howling Dark, but the last half or so of this book was absolutely fantastic! I’ve struggled to put this book down since about the half-way point and yhe story became more and more compelling with the interaction between the Cielcin, Marlowe, the Empire, the Undying, the Mericanii, and the Quiet!! Religious, historical, and political undertones abound to add depth and structure to an already interesting and entertaining story.

Ruocchio has taken influences from various sources and created a vast universe that appears will only become greater as we move through the series. I cannot wait to continue.

Excellent storytelling and prose at its finest!
