In "The Duke of Deception," Geoffrey Wolff's story is a mirror image of what we see in "This Boy’s Life" by his brother. While "This Boy's Life" is mainly about Toby and his mom, Geoffrey's book focuses on their dad, Duke. The brothers didn't have much contact, but their lives end up reflecting each other in unexpected ways. Geoffrey’s writing style requires untangling at times, but he digs deep into the theme of deception. He looks at how lying is part of being human, coming from our needs to protect ourselves, fulfill our wants, and create new realities.
