Hot To Go
by Kristen Bailey
Hot to Go is a summer-focused romcom between two teachers set partly in Spain and partly in London. I have read another work by this author before so I know she's capable of better. The quippy banter between the lead characters can't save this one.
Too many typos for a published book, with strange lapses into second person when a character is thinking rather than speaking. Additional problems include overly familiar discussions between teachers and students about romantic relationships and a misunderstanding of how one should react to the presence of bedbugs. If someone sharing your room announces that they have bedbug bites, the right thing to do is to tell the hotel instead of pulling them into bed to snuggle with you! I feel like this shouldn't need to be said.
I received an advance copy on Netgalley in exchange for this honest review.
