Another great book! And such a good continuation of the first novel. I'm unbelievably excited to read the third!

Off the bat, this book played a hell of a lot more on my emotions compared to the last one. It was basically spin the wheel to find out which emotions the author was going to exploit next! Also, there were so many bloody twists in this book which didn't help with that! Especially in the last approximately 15% of the narrative, my mouth started getting dry by how much it dropped and stayed open lol. (I also choked on my spit once but let's not talk about that...) I was begging for a break from the whiplash at the end haha.

I had to use all my strength to stop my eyes from jumping ahead on the page and spoiling what was coming. I was just so excited to know what was going to happen! I literally had to cover the page with my hand. I was so invested in the narrative that no matter how much I yawned or my body asked for sleep, I refused to put this book down until I had finished it.

Side note: more of the "girl like me" cliche, ew. If this is going to be a part of every installment of this series, I might have to suddenly become blind when those paragraphs come up lol. Also, I'm worried about the phrase "old man". They ALWAYS use it when referring to Tobias Hawthorne and I worry it's going to get old and annoying really fast.
