I was skeptical of this one at first but the last half of the book was way better than the first half.
I feel like there was A LOT of relationship drama this book though. It did become a bit much.
At one point Violet says something like "I don't know why we are still having this fight" and, I have to say, I agree with her. This was honestly one of my biggest 👎. This was most of the plot and I had very little buy in by the 3rs/4th time it was mentioned.
But the last half, really like 25%, of the book was much better. It really got me and I was very invested which led to good cliffhanger payoff.
Possible spoiler:
I will say that I feel like the book would have had a punchier ending if the Xaden chapter was not there. Maybe a controversial opinion. Idk. I didn't find it necessary to have his talk with (you know who if you read) included and its inclusion took away from the effect the previous chapter had for me.
Good book and I will definitely read book 3. I am glad the author is taking more time to write it though.
