honestly? not bad. would i have picked it up if it weren't for book club? probably not but that's the joy of book clubs.
i think a big part of why i enjoyed the book was cause the main kinks and fantasies that were played out all appeal to me: voyeurism and exhibition, structured dom/sub dynamics, and the dirty talk was mostly good. i think that was precisely the reason why i was okay to overlook the absent/confusing world building and the completely disappointing attempt at a plot line. i also wanna point out that the smut scenes in this book did feel kinda short in comparision to the build-up for them - why not linger in the scene rather than have the sex be over in two paragraphs? also cmon if you address kink so explicity.... be graphic. go for it.
in hindsight, i also think its a shame that them being hades and persephone didnt add anything to the smut or to their dynamic beyond "uwu sunshine vs scary emo man". i wouldve loved if they werent just mortals filling rolls but actual gods with some divine powers - but maybe that's just the monster fucker in me.
also yeah the writing style is very flat and character inner monologues lack substance but ill probs critique that on most books - i am just picky.
all my yapping aside, this was the first SSBC book where i went "oh that's hot" since bubble babes so 4 stars lmao
