I think this is my favorite book from Carly Fortune that I’ve read. It had the perfect mix of quirk, tension, and what’s most important: a well thought out, developed ending. I was surprised by the ending and why Bridget was hiding out in PEI. I’m glad the detail wasn’t just glanced over and it was a large part of the plot. I thought it was very interesting why she was so upset. I usually don’t like books where they jump between years, but this kind of felt like a treasure hunt, and it was really exciting to hear how their relationship developed over the years. The pacing felt really great and it definitely kept me engaged. I really can’t say enough great things about the ending. I thought this book would just end in a typical happily ever after, but they were realistic and mature to end up together.
Moderate: Death, Toxic relationship, Alcohol
Minor: Vomit
