The Squared Circle: Life, Death, and Professional Wrestling by David Shoemaker

4.0

A good book, not quite a great one but very interesting nonetheless. A recap of wrestling through the years with each chapter dedicated to a performer who untimely passed away.

The first part was the toughest slog and I found that bit a chore to get through. Once you get to the late 70s the book picks up speed. Fascinating and broad in scope, a sobering read also with many heroes we grew up with dying way too young and often with drugs and abuse to blame.

A different book to what I was expecting but still happy to have read it. Brought back lots of nostalgia from my childhood and forgotten heroes like Mr Perfect, Owen Hart and Brian Pillman to name a few, stars whose star burned out long before their legend.
