The Awakening by Kate Chopin
5.0

It is surprising to me that this was written in 1899 because it's so ahead of its time. Chopin explores an unconventional attitude to motherhood, marriage and adultery.

It's also really fast-paced, well written and wow the plot twists, especially the last one!!

I think even some modern audiences would consider Mrs Pontellier's actions to be shocking.

I wish I could study this book in my English class because there is so much to take away from this book.
