Three Parts Dead
by Max Gladstone
I like it. I like Tara. I like the world. I like the mystery.
The world is very interesting what with craft (magic?), steampunk, gargoyles, vampires, gods and other things thrown in the mix. I also like the little things like driverless carriages where the horses seem to be semi-sentient because they decide if they'll take you on as a passenger and you pay the horse.
The mystery has been interesting even though I guessed early on that a certain god isn't dead. But, I've been surprised that another also isn't dead and where they hid - even though, certain things should have made me suspicious.
I really like Tara. I always wanted to know more about her and her past. In my opinion, there has been a bit too little about her and too little from her POV in this book considering that she's the main character.
I also like Shale a lot but his "screentime" has also been way too little. Especially if you consider his part in everything and what happened in the big reveal. I really wanted to know how he is after everything happened but there has only been a sidenote about his family in general. :(
There have been some other small details that bothered me a bit while reading but all in all - I like it. :)
