I loved hearing about life in Gaza from a variety of different perspectives. Each poem and essay has a special story and significance that when combined with the others in the collection, gives me a better understanding of the emotions behind the oppression and political discriminations against Palestinians through the last several decades. Some of the writers also give concrete examples and ideas of how readers in other countries can help make the situation better. I was particularly moved by the piece written by the librarian. Overall, the book had its intended effect and now I feel more empathy and more connected to the situation than I previously had.
