I could have finished this book in one sitting, but I need sleep to feel human, so I finished it the next day.
This was recommended by a few people online, and even though I’m not typically a thriller reader, I was intrigued by the premise, wolves being reintroduced to the Scottish Highlands in an attempt to bring back the necessary biodiversity. In my opinion, this is marginally a thriller. I see it as more literary with higher stakes. And I loved it. The characters are complicated and frustrating and flawed, and human. The wolves are wild and majestic. There is a lot of trauma to work through here, and if you’re sensitive to domestic violence, be aware there are many discussions and scenes of it in this book.
