Allegiant by Veronica Roth
4.0
This was my favorite out of the series, but I enjoyed the first the most. I don't know if that makes sense. But I felt this book included more insight and became what distinguished this series from other dystopian YA books I've read. There were times when I felt the writing was awkward, not weak. I enjoy short sentences and I feel it's part of both POV's personalities to speak that way. However on pages such as 442, it bothered me. Page 40 had awkward questioning to provide an answer to the reader, which happened a little less subtly that I would have like. But, the overall story and the thoughts and values it encompasses are more elaborate than I expected. This is a layered story, not one note unlike other YA books I have read. However I did wish for more of a difference in voice between the characters. They're personalities are different and that's evident, but at the start of each chapter it was a bit harder to discern.
Now spoilers,
I felt the ending was completely fitting and was not done just for shock value. I don't think that people should give this book a bad review because of it.
