The Thousandth Floor
by Katharine McGee
You know what, I loved American Royals and this book looked interesting so I figured why not try this one.
For starters, I liked the dystopian vibes and how a lot of the protagonists were crafted with wealth to be perfect. All the characters had interesting plots and backstories, but if you were to ask me to name them and match their plot/backstory, I wouldn’t be able to do it. That’s usually my issue with a big cast of protagonists, especially if all of their narratives are pretty similar. I found myself often rereading the book’s synopsis to figure out who had which story (multiple narrators might’ve helped). Although, I’m not even going to try and defend the Atlas and Avery romance … that shit was weird and gross.
Also a note: I usually hate technobabble in books but I liked how simplified and not overwhelming it all was here.
I won’t lie, I zoned out for about maybe 2+ hours of this book and don’t think I missed anything. Do with that information what you will. Admittedly, I was listening and not really processing anything.Apparently, there’s also a rape scene and I think I skipped over it while not paying attention.
Will I read the rest of the series? I honestly might as well ...
