I leaned to giving this 2 stars simply for the "like" scale because I didn't like this book. However, it is a wrenching story about a father, his backstory, and his son. Alcohol, drugs, the cycle of poverty, jail, the short term elation of something coming together and the complete lack of control and overwhelm when it all falls apart, all of it felt real. Too real. I had to read this in short sections with breaks.
