For the Love of Mike by Rhys Bowen
1.0
Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me three times - oy, vey! Three strikes and I'm out.
I love the Royal Spyness and Evan Evans series, but this one is surprisingly trite and amateurish. Can't believe they come from the same woman.
Less a mystery, and more 'plucky heroine' experiences all the cultural touchstones of 19th-20th C. NYC - fresh off the boat; anarchists, artists, and free thinkers; McKinley's Assassination; Working conditions of Immigrant garment workers (think triangle fire). Tiresome. I'm listening to the end now not even waiting for the happy ending. Oy!
