Infamous Park Avenue Prince by Ella Frank, Brooke Blaine
4.0
I always get excited for a new BrElla collaboration and this one was no different but it did have a different vibe for this duo - a college romance series featuring spoiled rich boys? Sign me up.
Weston (West) LaRue is one of the Park Avenue Princes - rich beyond belief, super privileged and able to get whatever he wants, whenever he wants it. He’s intelligent and motivated to be successful but uses his upbringing, connections and wealth to their full extent, living a life of excess even as a junior in college. After there being some consequences for his actions last school year at Astor University, he’s out for revenge on the dean, intent on making her son the target of his plan for the year.
John Thomas (JT) Hawthorne is a freshman at Astor University and the only son of the dean, making him an outcast on campus and leaving him feeling lonely from the very beginning of the school year. JT is incredibly sweet and earnest, creative at heart - using poetry as his outlet for his emotions and confusion. He’s young though, still figuring out who he is, what he likes and where he fits in, especially in this privileged college world he’s found himself a part of.
I really liked these two together, especially when they were away from the glitz and glam of West’s lifestyle, when they had an opportunity to just be themselves. West is insistent on corrupting JT but quickly realizes that it’s so much more than he expected. They talk, connect, spend time together and go on dates, things neither of them saw coming yet things that felt incredibly natural. But, I felt like I was watching a car crash in slow motion for so much of the book - I knew things were going to blow up in their faces (especially West’s), I just wasn’t sure when it would happen. When it did, it seemed like they were apart for no time at all before making amends and settling in for their HFN. I wanted a little more conflict and a lot more resolution, but I’m hopeful we’ll see these two more in the rest of this series.
Looking forward to more from the Park Avenue Princes, especially (hopefully) a Travis + Caleb pairing!
