The Last Kashmiri Rose by Barbara Cleverly

5.0

his book was absolutely mesmerizing. I had a hard time putting it down. Joe Sandilands is a Scotland Yard detective who is about to leave India after six months. Then he is called to investigate the horrible murder of an English woman, wife of an Army colonel. A friend of the woman's, Nancy Drummond, a young woman married to an older army officer whose important position is Collector, uses her influence with her uncle, a governor, to have him assigned to the task. Soon they are working together, and a romance is kindled. The book was a surprise in many ways - and not just when the murderer is finally revealed. This book was so evocative. I could see the images in my mind so vividly. I just loved it.
