The Spy Who Came In from the Cold
by John le Carré
3.5 stars.
A bleak and brutal portrait of the spy game. I enjoyed it, but it didn't have that little extra something to push it over the top into classic/must-read territory for me. Admittedly, I'm coming in as a Peter Guillam (and, to a slightly lesser extent, George Smiley) fangirl, so I may just be impatient to get to the Karla trilogy and other books in the series where they take a more central role.
