Poor Things by Alasdair Gray
5.0

Classic. It is quite fun to read in Alasdair's voice, especially the pompous characters. My favourite parts were Wedderburn's letter (hilarious), McCandles and Baxter's friendship. The depiction of Bella experiencing the horrors of the world was tragic. I liked the firm placement in space with locations. The intertextuality was great, although I have no idea what the "real" events were. I loved the Frankensteinish Godwin Baxter the most, though I had sympathy for all three of the major characters (despite their initial sinister intentions)
