slricker 's review for:
Cutting for Stone
by Abraham Verghese
It took me two tries to get into this book; the first time I couldn't make it past the first few pages. Even the second time, I felt that what was implied as the story was hidden behind extensive background.
The book is heavy with medical information, although not in a way that I found intimidating or overwhelming. It also conveys a lot of cultural and multicultural information but again it was never intimidating or overwhelming.
