read this as part of a storygraph genre challenge & found it on a buzzfeed recommendation list. i am obviously outside of the target audience, but WOW! what a book. there is so much love and empathy infused in héctor’s journey of navigating a new school, dealing with bullies, and finding where he belongs. so well done—if i had this book available to me as a preteen/teenager…! i could only imagine how impactful it would’ve been on my self-identity journey.
