My first Young Adult book by Brandon Sanderson, and I thought it was okay, not amazing. At first, I was really into it, but then it got a bit slow before picking up again. The characters weren't that interesting to me, so I mainly enjoyed it for the story. It's a fun, light read, good for when you want something easy. But I don’t think I care enough about the characters or the story to read the next book. If you like superheroes and stories about getting revenge, you might like it. The book's worldbuilding is really cool, and the plot twists at the end made it better (which I did not see coming). I hope his Skyward series is a better YA experience for me because this one didn’t impress me much. I'd need someone to convince me to keep reading this series.
