Discourse on Colonialism by Aimé Césaire

4.0

“Every day that passes, every denial of justice, every beating by the police, every demand of the workers that is drowned in blood, every scandal that is hushed up, every punitive expedition, every police van, every gendarme and every militiaman, brings home to us the value of our old societies.”

A declaration of war against capitalism and colonialism, Aimé Césaire gives a platform and a voice to the slaves, the working class, and the minorities who have never been given a chance to voice their stance in the grand scheme of life that has been forced upon them by colonizers. It is not by their doing that they live the life they do, but by the hand of those who own them and abuse and control them. There is no justice, no rest, no peace until each and every voice has been heard by all and has been learned by all, so that we may not make the same mistakes of the past.
