actually so good, easily one of the best YA fantasies I've ever read! listened to it all effectively uninterrupted while working and was extremely into it from the very beginning. the twists got me and I loved the overall story, Shiori is a great protagonist to follow and I even really enjoyed the love story going on despite how easily it would feel unnecessary or forced within the context of the narrative. definitely gonna listen to the sequel as soon as I can and will hopefully check out more of the author's work in the future, I'd absolutely eat up an adult fantasy from them
