One Fine Duke by Lenora Bell

4.0

I throughly enjoyed this book and appreciated that there was definitely more focus on the emotional development of the characters and their relationship than there was on the spy subplot. Their relationship and trust grew at a good pace and for the most part, I didn’t feel their connection was rushed or their chemistry forced. I especially enjoyed the character and development of the hero. The scene in the beginning where he was examining himself in front of a mirror and debating whether he was attractive was so endearingly and unapologetically human. He also put in a lot of work to fix himself up emotionally on his own instead of being magically healed by love. He was raw, real and imperfect which made him an interesting character to read about. Rated four stars because the heroine annoyed me a bit. She was a little too brash and flighty for my liking, but I tend to prefer a softer, more scholarly heroine to a bold and adventurous one.
