Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi

dark emotional informative tense fast-paced

5.0

When I first heard of the title of the book from one of my IB students, I thought it was another Shakespeare or Ancient Greek history book I had to read to help them with their assignments. But, boy, was I glad I was wrong! After finding the book and reading the short synopsis provided, I was instantly intrigued. Persepolis is my first graphic novel as an adult, and I quite enjoyed how Satrapi decided to depict her story quite literally.

This is a definite recommendation on my recommended list! Whether you enjoy history or graphic novels, or want to learn something new about another country, or specifically Iran, or read something out of your comfort zone, this is the book to read.
