Eternal Love

DID NOT FINISH: 78%
I came here after watching the Hidden Love show. I got to chapter 63 or so. I did like the female lead Wen Yifan on her own and I loved the male lead Sang Yan too, but their chemistry wasn't strong enough for me to really feel it. I would've liked it better if the author had taken more time to develop their chemistry and their attraction to each other before the relationship actually started. I think the characters are well-developed when taken alone, and I think their relationship does work, but they needed more chemistry for me to really like it. That's my take anyway.
Apart from that I liked it well enough. I think one of the pillars of a romance book is an attractive hero, which Sang Yan is. I think Wen Yifan is multi-faceted, which is another pillar of romance books. I can see why someone would really like it, but due to the aforementioned reasons, I found it hard to get excited about the progression of Yifan and Sang Yan's relationship. In fact, the parts I felt most excited at were when the characters and plot points of Hidden Love made cameos. Make of that what you will.
As a side note, if you're coming here after the Hidden Love show like me and haven't read its novel, know that Sang Yan (Victor Ma) in the show has a pretty different personality from the character in Eternal Love. I'm assuming he's the same in Eternal Love as he is in Secretly, Secretly; But Unable to Hide It. Sang Yan in the show is pretty boisterous and is a softie especially when it comes to Sang Zhi. In Eternal Love, Sang Yan is colder, more brooding, and taller, though he is equally attractive (kisses to Victor Ma).

Moderate: Cursing, Emotional abuse, Violence
Minor: Sexual content
There's a character that harasses the main character, Yifan, somewhat frequently in a certain part of the book. At the beginning of the book, another minor character harasses and threatens Yifan and does violence with Sang Yan. There are some references to sex, but I didn't get far enough to see if anything is described explicitly in the book.
