The Rescue
by Nicholas Sparks
While the whole book draws you in and captures your heart, the last third or so of the book is quite the emotional roller coaster. I cried equal parts happy and sad tears.
There's something relatable in each of the characters. Each character learns about the various human relationships in their lives (friendship, romantic interests, relationships with parents and children, acquaintances, lovers, etc).
I expected a frilly romance, I didn't expect it to grapple with concepts like guilt and grief, especially so beautifully.
Definitely would recommend.
